Meeting Dates and Times:
Meetings will be held the third Tuesday of each month, at 4:30pm EST.
Note: All meetings will be held in the West Leyden Elementary Cafeteria. When school is not in session (e.g. snow day), the PTA meeting will be rescheduled.
The West Leyden Elementary PTA is participating in the 2024-2025 NYS PTA Reflections Program. This program offers students a unique opportunity to create original works of art of their own Reflections expressing their hopes, feelings and worlds. This program welcomes ALL students (Pre-K through 5 th ,and students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 (via the Accessible Arts category). We are offering two art categories this year:
Visual Arts: Works of both fine and design arts are accepted, including but not limited to: architecturaldrawing and models, ceramics, collage, digital art and graphics (drawings/paintings/illustration), crafts,drawing, fashion clothes and jewelry, fiber work, mixed media, painting, printmaking and sculpture. See Official Rules for copyright details. 2D artworks must be no larger than 24x30 inches with matting. Framed entries are not accepted. Include one digital image of artwork with your submission. 3D artwork submissions must contain 3 digital images of artwork at different angles. Image(s) are used for artwork identification, judging and exhibition purposes. Accepted file formats: JPEG, JPG, and PNG.
Literature: Accepted forms of fiction and nonfiction include prose, poetry, reflective essay, screen play and play script, narrative, and short story. Entrants may write in their primary language as long as an interpretive English translation is also attached. Use of copyrighted material is prohibited. Writing must not exceed 2,000 words and may be handwritten or typed. Accepted formats: Single-sided print on 8½x11” paper, PDF file.
Parents/Guardians may use the following Google Form to submit their students’ entries, or they may pick up a paper copy of the entry form in the main office. ALL entries are due no later than Wednesday, November 11, 2024, at the close of school that day. Prior to your submission, please closely review the entry rules, as well as the category rules.
2024-2025 WL Elementary PTA Reflections Entry Form:
This entry form will require you to upload both a saved image of the completed and signed entry form, as well as the student’s artwork. The entry form template may be found here.

West Leyden PTA News and Events:
- West Leyden Elementary Open House will be 9/19/24 from 6-7pm. Stop by the West Leyden Elementary PTA table!
- Picture Day will be 9/23/24 (retakes on 10/24/24).

- Scholastic Book Fair will be 11/4/24 through 11/8/24. More details will be released soon!

PTA Fundraisers:
The Gertrude Hawk fundraiser returns for the 2024-2025 school year! This fundraiser supports students field trips. Packets with a family letter, brochure and order form will be distributed within the next week. You may begin selling items now and all orders must be returned to the school no later than Monday, October 28, 2024.
There are two ways to fundraise: online and through the brochure/order form. The family letter in the packet explains how you can set up a fundraising account on their website.
Students have the opportunity to earn PRIZES as they fundraise and receive orders!
