FFA -- Agricultural Education
In New York FFA, "substate" refers to the regional competitions (Eastern, Central, and Western) for Career and Leadership Development Events (LDEs) that lead up to the State Convention, where the winners advance to the National FFA Convention.
:Substate Competitions: New York FFA is divided into three regions (Eastern, Central, and Western) for LDE competitions.
LDEs: These are Career and Leadership Development Events, where students test their knowledge and skills in various agricultural areas.
State Convention: The winners of the substate competitions advance to the New York State FFA Convention, where they compete against other regional winners.
National FFA Convention: Many of the LDEs at the State Convention serve as qualifiers for the National FFA Convention.
