Graduation Requirements

Adirondack Central School District requires students to earn a certain number of credits in order to move on to the next grade level.
Sophomore Year: 5 credits
Junior Year: 10 credits
Senior Year: 15 credits plus all required courses

Diploma Types and Regents Exams:

Local Diploma: Students under the Committee of Special Education are eligible for a local diploma which means students can receive a 55 or higher on all five Regents exams

Regents Diploma: Students must receive a 65 or higher on five Regents exams:
ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies + 1 other Regents (another math, science or social studies)

Advanced Regents Diploma: Students must receive a 65 or higher Regents exams and take the following Regents exams:

  • Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry & Algebra II
  • Science: (One physical and one life science) which is most typically Living Environment and Earth Science but Chemistry and/or Physics will also count as a science Regents 
  • Language other than English (not a Regents exam but required from the State of New York in order to obtain an Advanced Regents)

Additional Designations:

With Honors: This designation is added to either Regents Diploma or the Advanced Regents Diploma for students with an average score of 90 or more on all required exams. This must equal exactly a 90 or above. There is no rounding up permitted, per the State Education Department.

Mastery in Science and/or Mastery in Math: A student meets all the requirements for an Advanced Regents Diploma AND earns at score of 85 or better on 3 math Regents examinations and/or 3 science Regents examinations.

Technical Endorsement: A student meets the requirements for either a local diploma, a Regents diploma or a Regents diploma with advanced designation AND successfully completes a Department approved CTE program including the 3 part technical assessment (this would be through a BOCES program).
